Theater Program InformationOur theater program took a long break after the COVID-19 shut down, but we were blessed to return to Christian Homeschool Live Theater with the 2023 Fall production of The Cinderella Miracle! For the Fall of 2024 we are making plans for another chapter in the Fairytales Happen...when angels make mistakes series.

Fall Semester Production
We currently stage one theatrical production per school year with auditions typically held in late August or early September. Rehearsals occur every Friday evening of the fall semester until the week of performances.
Ages
Home-school students 12 to 21 may audition for acting roles. Parents and students over 21 are invited to serve in backstage & technical support positions.
Auditions
We make auditions a fun and non-threatening environment. Every student who auditions is cast in the show.
Costs
Tuition is $200 per student for most productions. In addition to tuition, each student must sell a minimum of 15 show tickets to complete participation requirements that support the show financially.
Rehearsals
The cast will rehearse from September through November on Friday evenings.
Performances
Performance dates are usually late November or early December but they depend on performance venue rental openings. The last week of the production always includes at least 6 required full cast evenings: Monday through Wednesday tech/dress rehearsals followed by Thursday, Friday and Saturday night performances.
Other Opportunities
In addition to one stage production each year, Lighthouse also offers acting opportunities via the SALT Speech and Debate club. Students prepare speeches and/or acting interpretations from cuttings of literature. They present their work in competitive tournaments in the Stoa league. See http://www.stoausa.org/speech-events for more information about the types of speeches, and visit the SALT page for more information about the SALT club.
